Location: Leuven, Belgium

IVEX is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design, development, and operation of scalable backend systems and AWS infrastructure supporting our ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle (AV) safety platform.

You’ll be responsible for building reliable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions that process large-scale vehicle data and support safety-critical use cases.

This role requires deep technical expertise, architectural maturity, and a hands-on approach – we are not looking for junior or entry-level profiles.

In this role you will

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend services using Python (FastAPI).

• Architect and manage scalable AWS infrastructure for data pipelines and backend workloads.

• Define and implement security, monitoring, and disaster recovery strategies across environments.

• Continuously optimize performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of cloud resources.

• Conduct code and architecture reviews, ensuring maintainable, secure, and high-quality solutions.

• Troubleshoot production systems and support customer integrations with IVEX’s cloud platform.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, EKS, IAM, etc.).

• Strong experience with Python, FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.

• Excellent knowledge of Linux systems, Git, and SQL/NoSQL databases.

• Proven ability to design scalable distributed systems with strong attention to security and operational reliability.

Nice to have

• Experience working with vehicle data (e.g. camera, LiDAR, GNSS, object lists).

• Familiarity with DevOps practices or CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions, Argo, etc.).
