Location: Leuven, Belgium

IVEX is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the design, development, and operation of scalable backend systems and AWS infrastructure supporting our ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle (AV) safety platform.

You’ll be responsible for building reliable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions that process large-scale vehicle data and support safety-critical use cases.

This role requires deep technical expertise, architectural maturity, and a hands-on approach – we are not looking for junior or entry-level profiles.

In this role you will

• Develop scoring and reporting features based on evolving vehicle safety test protocols.

• Build Python data pipelines to process large volumes of vehicle test data.

• Design, maintain, and operate scalable AWS infrastructure using infrastructure as code and automated deployments.

• Ensure secure access control, data integrity, and traceability across customer workflows.

• Troubleshoot production issues, customer integrations, data processing, and system performance.

• Translate product requirements into clear technical designs and robust implementations.

• Optimize reliability, backup and recovery, capacity, and cloud costs.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.

• Strong experience with Python data processing, dataframe libraries, and columnar data formats.

• Experience designing and working with document databases.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot and operate production systems.

• Comfortable working with mature codebases, technical documentation, and existing system designs.

• Strong written English and ability to communicate technical decisions clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience working with vehicle data (e.g. camera, LiDAR, GNSS, object lists).

• Familiarity with DevOps practices or CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions, Argo, etc.).
